Highlights: Legal issues arising from the peculiar and particular circumstances of the multi-storey buildings is one of the unique features of Hong Kong’s conveyancing system. In this seminar, we will discuss primarily common issues of building management disputes among incorporated owners/ owners’ committee, managers and owners of the premises, also conflict between landlord and tenant in relation to the multi-storey buildings’ circumstances. In addition, we will examine recent, updated court cases and relevant ordinances in relation to common disputes found in the building management, also landlord and tenancy issues of Hong Kong.
Moreover, some relevant and updated features, ordinances and court cases for parties to consider during the course of resolving their disputes by alternative dispute resolution, for example mediation etc., also case management of the Lands Tribunal would be highlighted in this seminar.

Lau Wan Ching
Lau Wan Ching, Barrister-at-Law, Accredited Mediator, Gilt Chambers Ms. Lau Wan-ching was called to the Bar of Hong Kong in 2007. She was also qualified as accredited mediator and started her private practice for mediation since 2011. In addition, Ms. Lau is appointed and currently served as Chairman/ Adjudicator/ Members in public service, legal and mediation area including the statutory appeal panel and disciplinary panel in Hong Kong. As a barrister-at-law, Ms. Lau’s areas of specialization (civil practice) in her legal profession include family, broadcasting and media, company, contracts, land and property, personal injury, mediation, mental health, sale of goods etc. She is also experienced in conducting criminal litigation (criminal practice), acting for prosecution as counsel on fiat or acting as defence counsel to defend/appeal in criminal cases (including criminal, traffic and departmental summons). Before switching her career and joined the legal profession, Ms. Lau worked as senior journalist and news anchor in several well-known local broadcasting media in Hong Kong for more than a decade including News and Information Services Division of Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), News Channel of Cable TV, also News Department of Asia Television. Therefore, she also equips with strong background in media law including libel/defamation, privacy, reputation risk and access to information. During her professional practice, Ms. Lau also engages as part-time lecturer or guest speaker in the local universities in Hong Kong, teaching commercial law, medical law and media law. She also delivers lectures for CPD/ training courses in regard to legal issues related to building management and landlord and tenant, social media, copyright, competition law and Trade Description Ordinance, criminal law (including road traffic) etc.
